Over
the years Rockleaze Rangers has been involved in sending kit and footballs to
youth teams in the Gambia. We are planning
to extend this to an orphanage in Thailand which John
Ponting visited recently. Greatly moved by the plight of the 1,500 children
he saw at the Wat Sakeow Orphanage, John would like to send kit as well as
footballs to the children there
If
you have any football shirts/shorts in good condition that you would like to
donate to the children in Thailand
or Africa,
please pass them to John or Andrew Reynolds (Year 1 and 2 coach) – please
make sure they’re washed though!!
Wat Sakeow in Thailand
Founded in 1942 and beginning
with 10 children, the Orphanage at Wat Sakeow is now home to 1000 boys and
400 girls, aged between 6 and 15. The
Orphanage is located in Ang Thong province, less than 2 hours north of Bangkok. Donations and outside support
are essential. Food, clothing,
supplies, education materials – all are needed on an on-going basis

Kids Day at Wat Sakeow
On
22
February 2004, the kids
at the Orphanage of Wat Sakeow
were treated to a day of games, entertainment, picnics and all round fun,
organized by the Friends of
Wat Sakeow. The Friends of Wat Sakeow is an all-volunteer organization
which aims to assist the Orphanage at Wat Sakeow in manageable, affordable
and useful ways. The event
involved a wide variety of activities for the children and was made possible
by the donations from various individuals, groups and corporations, and the
time and effort of the volunteers. Here’s some photos of the day
